Located on PR 520, just south of PR 313.

Effective Oct. 23, 2024, Transfer Station #520 is CASHLESS. Transfer Station #520 accepts debit and credit.

Acceptable Items

Transfer Station #520 accepts the following items. Transfer Station #214 only accepts household/residential waste.

1: Residential/household waste:

Non-recyclable solid waste generated from a household.

2. Blue-bin recyclable materials:

We accept the following recyclables in our recycling bin. Items can be brought in loose or in clear plastic bags:

Books of all types (phone, paperback, hardcover)

  • Newspapers, magazines, and flyers
  • Calendars, phonebooks, and catalogues
  • Office paper (if shredded)
  • Boxboard (cereal boxes, etc.)
  • Corrugated cardboard (must be broken down
  • Glass bottles, jars, dishes with lids removed
  • #1, #2, #4, #5 and #7 plastic containers
  • Milk cartons and Tetra Paks
  • Aluminum and tin cans

We do NOT accept: 

  • Styrofoam
  • Kleenex
  • Plastic bags
  • Bubble wrap
  • #3 and #6 plastic containers
  • Agricultural jugs and containers
  • Large plastic items (plastic chairs, plastic toys, plastic siding, garden hoses)

3: Electronic waste recycling

Household electronic waste recycling is accepted at Transfer Station #520. Please notify the scale attendant when you are bringing in electronic waste so they can provide you with further direction. 

We accept the following electronic waste:

  • Computer cables
  • Computer cards
  • Circuit boards
  • Internal or External CD-ROMS, DVD and burners
  • Electronic typewriters
  • Fax machines
  • Hard disks and floppy drives
  • Laptops
  • Laptop accessories
  • Modems
  • Networking equipment
  • Personal computers
  • Inkjet and laser printers
  • Software manuals, CDs, DVDs, diskettes
  • Cassette and reel to reel players
  • Mobile radios
  • Remote controls
  • Game decks
  • Mobile phones, chargers, and batteries
  • Pagers and answering machines
  • Batteries – dry-cell and rechargeable
  • Stereos, televisions, entertainment equipment
  • Regular telephones, corded or wireless
  • Microwaves

4. Household hazardous waste

The Transfer Station partners with Product Care to accept household hazardous waste. Please notify the scale attendant when you are bringing in household hazardous waste so they can provide you with further direction.

The following items can be brought into our Transfer Station but must be in original containers and clearly labeled for the healthy and safety of our employees. Only products sold for domestic use will be accepted.

  • Compressed gases
  • Corrosives
  • Flammable liquids (including gasoline)*
  • Fluorescent lighting tubes & compact fluorescents (CFL)
  • Paint products (such as paint cans)
  • Pesticides
  • Toxic materials

*Gasoline will only be accepted in ULC-approved gas cans or jerry cans. We are unable to return your container to you at drop off.

5: Used oil 

Used oil can include petroleum or crankcase oil, engine oil or other fluid capable of use for lubricating purposes in machinery or equipment which, because of use, can no longer be used for its original purpose. Oil must be transported in containers that are no bigger than five litres and oil must not exceed 20 litres total. If possible, oil should be brought in in its original container. We are not able to accept barrels of oil.

6. Weighed loads

All weighed loads are subject to a $20 minimum fee. Weighed loads may contain, but are not limited, to the following:

  • concrete rubble waste
  • construction/demolition waste
  • excavation waste
  • treated wood

Recyclable items must be separated from weighed loads, otherwise they will be included in the charged weight.

7. Yard waste and combustible waste

The following items are accepted free of charge: 

  • clean tree branches
  • untreated lumber
  • untreated lumber packaging
  • brush
  • leaves
  • grass clippings
  • garden and flowerbed vegetation
  • straw
  • tree stumps

8. Furniture and mattresses:

These items include non-metallic household furniture, mattresses and box springs. Fees apply for bringing these items in to the Transfer Station.

9. Used tires:

Passenger tires are accepted at the Transfer Station free of charge.

10. Propane tanks:

Propane tanks are accepted at the Transfer Station free of charge.

11. Metallic waste:

Items that are comprised entirely of some type of metal substance can be brought in free of charge as long as they fit in our metal bin. This includes decommissioned appliances.

Unacceptable items:

The Transfer Station does not accept the following items under any circumstances:

  • Large items that don’t fit in bins, including: septic tanks, water tanks, watercrafts, hot tubs, pianos, and campers.
  • Metallic waste that does not fit into the Metal bin.
  • Animal carcasses or hides
  • Asbestos
  • Barrels of oil
  • Spray foam tanks and helium tanks
  • Medical waste, including prescription medication and medical needles and sharps.

The Transfer Station has the right to refuse materials based on burning bans and space limitations.

Transfer Station Scannable Access Card System 


Both Transfer Station #520 and #214 make use of the existing access cards. Residential and trailer site cards come with annual bag limits for the disposal of waste.

Bag Limits

Bag limits are be determined by Council. They are  allocated on Jan. 1 and  expire on Dec. 31 of the same year. Unused bags do not carry over to the following year. Bag limits hold no monetary value. 

Residential Card Holders (white card)

The bag limit for residential card holders is set at 104 for 2026.  

Residential card holders who use up their bag allocation will pay fees as per the Solid Waste Disposal Facilities (Transfer Station) Fee Schedule. 

Fees are determined by Council resolution and subject to change.

Commercial Card Holders (black card)

Commercial card holders do not have a bag limit and will pay fees as per the Transfer Station Fee Schedule.

Agricultural Card Holders (black card)

Agricultural card holders do not have a bag limit and will pay fees as per the Transfer Station Fee Schedule.

Trailer Sites

The bag limit for a trailer park lot occupant is set at 52 for 2026.

Trailer park lot occupants who use up their bag allocation will pay as a resident as per the Transfer Station Fee Schedule.

Non-residents 

As the RM of Lac du Bonnet waste disposal sites are Transfer Stations, not landfills, the following applies: Non-residents can use the Transfer Stations and will pay as per the Transfer Station Fee Schedule.

Replacement or supplementary cards

Replacement or supplementary cards may be purchased due to misplacement, theft, title transfer, or convenience. Replacement or supplementary cards cost $30 each and there is no limit to the number of supplemental cards one can purchase, but all supplementary cards will be linked to the bag limits of the resident or business owners’ roll number. 

The RM reserves the right to cancel cards due to abuse or change of ownership as necessary.

A resident depositing waste must present their access card to the Transfer Station attendant. Photocopies or scanned images of the access card will not be accepted; Transfer Station attendants have the authority to request identification to confirm a resident’s identity.
