Winter 2022 Programs

In-Person Programming - Please note that ALL in-person programs are subject to change, in order to comply with COVID-19 Provincial restrictions. If any programs are postponed due to restriction changes, the program will be cancelled and new date selected for the program. Those that have registered an paid, will be automatically moved to the new program date. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Safety of our participants and staff are the top priority. Snowshoe Orienteering

Strap on some snowshoes and lead yourself on a fun adventure to find a set of orienteering clues. If you find all of the clues and solve the riddles, you’ll be rewarded with a prize. Bring your own or borrow a pair of snowshoes. Please dress for the weather. Adult must accompany child but does not have to snowshoe (although we do have some adult snowshoes available). 

Location: North Tower Road Trail

Time: 10:00 am start

Date: January 4, 2022, January 15, 2022 and February 13, 2022

Cost: Free

We also ask that prior to attending our programs you complete the COVID-19 screening tool which can be found at https://sharedhealthmb.ca/covid19/screening-tool/.  Our programs will follow all guidelines set by Public Health and may change as these guidelines change. Proof of vaccination not required for this event.

Canadian Firearms Safety Course (PAL) Unrestricted

The CFSC is an eight hour firearm safety course. It is a federal requirement for those who wish to apply for a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL). The course will start at 8:30 AM on Sunday, January 30, 2022, and there is eight hours of classroom Instruction and then written and practical testing afterward.

Location: RM of Lac du Bonnet Municipal Office

Participants must be 16 years of age. Attendees must be fully vaccinated, with proof upon entry to the facility, or they will not be able to attend the class.
Cost: $120.00 per participant.

The course objectives for this course is as follows:
-To be able to handle and use firearms and ammunition safely.
-To be able to comply with firearms laws.
-To be able to store and display non-restricted firearms and ammunition safely.
-To transport non-restricted firearms and ammunition safely.

Guided Winter Nature Hike Series

Join an outdoor nature expert as you hike and learn about animals, night skies and plants in our local area!

Habitat Characteristics: January 15, 2022 1:00-3:00 pm

The Night Sky & Nocturnal Wildlife: February 27, 2022 7:00-8:30 pm

Quirky Habits of Local Plants & Animals: March 19, 2022 1:00-3:00 pm

All listed hikes will take place at Blueberry Rock. Maximum 24 participants per session (first come, first serve).

Adult must accompany children under the age of 12. Please dress for the weather.

Learn to Ice Fish

Join local experts as they address basic ice safety, equipment instruction, fish identification, and hands-on experience fishing on the ice. The RM of Lac du Bonnet will provide all bait and tackle, but participants are welcome to bring their own gear. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair or bucket to sit on, and dress for the weather. Guardian must be in attendance for all participants under the age of 14. 

This program is targeted for teaching skills to children and youth, although anyone wanting to learn is welcome. Registration required.

Children's Recreational Hockey 

This is a non-competitive introduction to hockey program that will help build understanding of the game, skating skills, puck handling and team work. The goal is to provide your child with the opportunity to learn a new sport. Children should have some basic skating ability prior to this program.

Ages 6- 11 years. Child must be six years old by the start of the program. 
January 10-February 28, 2022
Cost: $60.00

MODAYS 4-5 pm at then Lac du Bonnet Arena. 


Funding is available for families that may require financial assistance. We can also assist with equipment for those in need. Email us and we can help with the application and equipment. 

Space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.


After-School Curling Academy

This program is for children in grades 5-12. During the program, participants will receive instruction on curling skills, rules of the game as well as the opportunity to playing short games and learn about the fun of the sport!

8-Week Program   l   Grades 5-12

Jan. 12-March 2, 2022   l    Wednesdays 4:00-5:00 pm

Cost: FREE - thanks to the Lac du Bonnet Curling Club & Funding from Curling Canada

Location: Lac du Bonnet Curling Rink

Funding is available for families that may require financial assistance or needing assistance with equipment needs. Please contact us for funding assistance - we would be happy to discuss options with you!

Equipment Requirement: All participants will need the following:

-Clean indoor shoes are a must.  

-A curling broom is also required.   

-A removable slider is recommended.  

-Comfortable clothing such as sweatpants, a light jacket and thin gloves will help keep children warm on the ice.

*Some equipment will be available to borrow. If equipment costs are a barrier to your child participating, please let us know and we will secure equipment!*

Cooking with Kids Program

Offered in partnership with the RM of Lac du Bonnet & Mrs. Lucci's Resource Centre.

Children ages 8-11 years will learn to cook fun and healthy recipes while also learning proper technique and safety around the kitchen. 

January 14th   l   January 21st   l   January 28th   l   February 4th

This program has been postponed until March or April. 

Program will run from 3:30-5:30 pm.  Location: 76 3rd Street, Lac du Bonnet, MB

Cost of registration is $30.00 for all 4 sessions. This will cover the cost of ingredients.

Virtual Essential Oils Workshop

The workshop will be conducted over ZOOM. In this 2-hour workshop, we will discuss:

-Most common essential oils and their medicinal aromatic and topical usages

-How to make your own blends and recipes for sprays, roll-ons, ointments, diffuser blends

-Carrier oils best suited for diluting essential oils

-Essential Oils for Chakra/Spiritual Cleansing

-Human and Pet Safety

 All participants will also received a 5 mL essential oil blend of their choice (chose one from the list below) in either carrier oil, small metal tin, spray bottle or mini roller-bottle. 

Essential Oil Blend #1: Headache or;

Essential Oil Blend #2: Anxious or;

Essential Oil Blend #3: Sleep or;

Essential Oil Blend #4: Breathe

In addition to the essential oil blend above, each person can chose what they’d like to make:

-Ointment (tin, carrier oil and beeswax will be provided) or;

-Roll-on (roller bottle and carrier oil will be provided) or;

- Spray (60 mL spray bottle and witch hazel will be included)

Time: 7:00-9:00 pm

Cost: $40.00 per participant

Participants will be required to pick up materials their class materials from Beausejour or the RM of Lac du Bonnet Administrative Office.
